This machine automatically press fits and swages a ball bearing into a variety of different aluminium valve blocks.

Each ball acts as a sealing plug to blank off the inter connecting cross drilled holes. The balls are inserted by a special purpose servo driven planetary roller screw press, which provides real time measurement of the pressing force and tooling depth. The operator simply loads the blocks and closes the guard.

A servo driven “x y” table positions the parts under the press head in sequence where a ball bearing is presented, pressed and swaged into position. The control system provides a graphical display of the load against displacement and ensures that every ball is inserted correctly by plotting and recording a load and displacement graph for every pressing cycle.
